Man City fans furious as Chelsea star Mason Mount set for England U21s start ahead of Phil Foden

We might be in the middle of the summer transfer window but this evening some of the most promising players in England take centre stage.

The Three Lions begin their under-21s European Championship campaign against France and there has already been some early team news.

That has come courtesy of The Times' respected chief football writer Henry Winter, who has revealed that the Man City midfielder will not start for Aidan Boothroyd's men tonight.

The likes of Dominic Solanke of Liverpool and Chelsea's Mason Mount are labelled as starters for the game, with Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin also missing out alongside Foden.

The news that Mount in many ways is starting over Foden has not gone down well with Man City fans and a sprinkling of England supporters.

Foden was used sparingly during the 2018/19 season with City though showed plenty of promise under Pep Guardiola, while Mount starred for Derby County in the Championship during his loan spell with the Rams.

It's safe to say Boothroyd's decision, though, has not gone down well with City supporters as the social media reaction below highlights.
