Man City fans fume at VAR decision on Gabriel Jesus goal

Manchester City became the first side in Premier League history to have a goal disallowed for offside on Saturday, during their opening weekend clash with West Ham.

VAR was first used in England's top-flight on Friday night as Liverpool defeated Norwich City 4-1 at Anfield but the technology was not called upon during the game.

After an opening 45 minutes against West Ham at the London Stadium passed by without any controversial incidents, the second half saw VAR come into play - disallowing Gabriel Jesus' second of the game, with Raheem Sterling marginally offside.

Replays showed that Sterling was an inch, if that, ahead of the defender but VAR means that there is no grey area now and, whatever the margin, offside will be called for what it is.

That will take a while for supporters to get used to though and that became obvious with a peek at social media after City's third of the afternoon against the Hammers was chalked off.
