Man City fans ask Pep Guardiola question after Raheem Sterling decision vs Man United

Manchester City fans have one question after seeing the starting line up to face Manchester United on Tuesday - where is the striker?

City named a strong side to face United in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Old Trafford, with Kevin De Bruyne, Fernandinho, Rodri and Raheem Sterling returning to the starting XI.

Pep Guardiola has named a back three in the previous two wins against Everton and Port Vale, and might use the same formation with Rodri dropping back alongside Fernandinho and Nicolas Otamendi. Alternatively, City might return to a standard back four with Rodri at the base of midfield, supported by Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin de Bruyne.

Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy provide width at the back, with Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo deployed in attack. Raheem Sterling completes the line up, presumably in a central role as Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus were both named on the bench.

Aguero had played the full match against Port Vale at the weekend, with Jesus rested after a busy Christmas period.

But fans felt one of the two recognised strikers in the squad should have started the game at United, and wondered why there was no out-and-out striker in the team.
