Man City fans all fear the same thing as Fernandinho sends emotional message

Manchester City captain Fernandinho has sent supporters a long, emotional message and some think it's a farewell post.

While reports emerged earlier last month claiming that Fernandinho was set to sign a contract extension at the Etihad, there remains to be an official announcement from City regarding his future and supporters are hoping this latest message isn't a goodbye.

Despite entering the autumn of his career, Fernandinho, 36, has enjoyed yet another outstanding season with City, playing a key role on and off the pitch at the club, leading Pep Guardiola's side to Premier League and League Cup glory this term.

Fernandinho's contract is set to expire at the end of June and he's now sent a series of tweets to supporters on social media, which has caused panic among fans amid uncertainty over his future. "What a year this has been, my dear friends," Fernandinho wrote.

Do you think Fernandinho should stay at City for another season? We want to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

"It has certainly a whirlwind of emotions throughout this season. The intensity of it all has been rather absurd. Firstly, I would like to say thank u to all our fans for your ongoing support.

"I can only imagine the anxiety this may have caused watching all the matches on the TV at home, but this is all over now. We have been fortunate enough to have some of our supporters back in the stadium."

Blues fans flooded the replies to Fernandinho's series of tweets, all reacting the same way, while most Brazilians are speculating he could be set for a return to his homeland, with supporters asking him to join Santos or Athletico Paranaense - his former club.

Regardless of speculation from supporters, it seems an announcement on where Fernandinho's future lies could be imminent.
