Man City face competition from Midlands club for left-back transfer target

Manchester City could be usurped by a fellow Premier League club in their bid to add cover at the left-back position in their squad.

The Premier League champions were recently linked with a surprise move for Antonee Robinson, who was relegated with Fulham at the end of last season.

The American, who joined the Cottagers from Wigan Athletic for £2million last summer, played 28 times for the SW6 outfit. The full-back looked lively going forward, but struggled to provide any end product, registering no goal involvements in the top flight.

Robinson emerged as a possible transfer target just as speculation began to mount that Benjamin Mendy could leave Eastlands in this window.

That would leave City light on left-backs, with just Oleksandr Zinchenko and Joao Cancelo the only available options after the Frenchman, and neither are naturals in that position.

However, The Sun are reporting that Robinson is also attracting interest from Wolves, who did not have nailed-on starter for the role in 2020/21.

Four different Wolves players were used there by former manager Nuno Espirito last season, as Romain Saiss, Marçal, Max Kilman and Jonny rotating throughout the campaign.
