Man City eyeing move for Ruben Dias' former Benfica teammate and more transfer gossip

Manchester City have reignited their interest in left-back Alex Grimaldo

That is according to Spanish outlet La Razon, who claim Atletico Madrid and the Blues have been following Grimaldo's progress, although interestingly this is not the first time the Benfica player has been linked with a move to the Etihad.

Reports emerged in 2016 that Pep Guardiola was an admirer of Grimaldo and the City boss knows the left-back well, with the 25-year-old progressing through Barcelona's youth ranks when the Catalan was in charge before joining Benfica for just €1.5m.

However, It's not just Guardiola that is familiar with the Spaniard, as the Football Writers' Player of the Year Ruben Dias played alongside Grimaldo at Benfica in Portugal, and the article suggests his days playing in the Primeira Liga are now numbered.

Meanwhile, the Athletic report City could face competition from United for Jack Grealish, with scouts at Old Trafford said to have been 'impressed' by his development at Aston Villa this season.

Guardiola has made his love for creative midfielders no secret and Grealish certainly fits that mould, although it's claimed Villa would demand £80m to sanction an exit for their captain which could force City to look elsewhere in the transfer market.

The prospect of playing in the Champions League is believed to appeal to Grealish.
