Man City eyeing Lautaro Martinez as Sergio Aguero replacement and more transfer rumours

Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez is Manchester City's top striker target this summer as Pep Guardiola looks to reinforce his attacking options, according to reports.

City are looking to strengthen their squad in the transfer window after a disappointing campaign that yielded just one trophy and have already made a strong start with the signings of Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres.

Another new centre-back remains the priority after City's defensive woes this past season, with Kalidou Koulibaly top of the list, but the club are also being repeatedly linked with a new striker.

The Blues' all time top scorer Sergio Aguero is now 32 with just 12 months remaining on his current contract and, according to The Sun, Guardiola is keen to bring in his long-term replacement.

It's reported that Tottenham's Harry Kane is the club's first choice but they have conceded that signing the England captain would be impossible and have instead turned to Martinez.

The Argentine has had a brilliant season in Italy, scoring 20 goals, although he was unable to prevent his side from losing the Europa League final to Sevilla on Friday night.

It's claimed that City are ready to meet Martinez's £81million release clause to bring him to the Etihad this summer ahead of Barcelona, but may look to offload some players to help fund the move.

Elsewhere, Napoli have reportedly lined up another replacement for City target Koulibaly.

It was thought that the Naples club would be signing Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes to open the door for the Senegal international to move to Manchester but it seems that Arsenal have won the race to sign him instead.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Napoli will move for Shakhtar Donetsk's Mykola Matviyenko if they fail to sign Gabriel.
