Man City eye transfer for PSG teenager Edouard Michut amid Marco Verratti comparisons

Manchester City are reportedly targeting a move for PSG teenager Eduoard Michut.

The 17-year-old has been impressing for PSG's under-19 side, drawing comparisons with first-team star Marco Verratti.

Michut operates in a similar central midfield role to Verratti, and has attracted interest from other Premier League clubs, as well as from Italy and Spain.

Sky Sports report City hope to complete the transfer either this summer or when his contract expires next year.

Should they wait until he is a free agent, City would only have to play compensation to PSG for training and developing the player through their youth system.

The right-footed youngster has already been capped by France at under-17 level.

City have been implementing a clear strategy of cherry picking talented youth stars from other sides in previous years.

Both Brahim Diaz (now of Real Madrid ) and (Borussia Dortmund's) Jadon Sancho were both signed for nominal fees before each being sold on for a significant profit.

Since their arrivals, City have also paid to prise academy stars Nabil Touaizi from Valencia, Finley Burns from Southend, and Darko Gyabi from Millwall.

City are one of the only major sides thought to still be in a strong position to spend money this summer amid the coronavirus crisis.

According to reports, City boss Pep Guardiola is said to be eyeing defensive reinforcements in the upcoming window, with Bayer Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah among the targets.

Red Bull Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano is also of interest, particularly given the 21-year-old is out of contract in 2021, so could be acquired at a cut price.

A bigger transfer concern for City is keeping hold of winger Leroy Sane.

The German international is a long-term target for Bayern Munich, who remain convinced they can land him this summer.

Sane is only just recovering from a serious knee injury which has forced him out of action this season, but is believed to be open to a switch back to his homeland.
