Man City expected to have already agreed £100m Erling Haaland deal for January

Man City have likely already agreed a deal to bring Erling Haaland to the club in January, according to Carlton Palmer.

City were looking to sign a striker all summer, with Tottenham star Harry Kane the priority target throughout the most recent transfer window. However when the north London side refused to do business, City opted not to sign anyone instead.

With Haaland 's contract at the Bundesliga club containing a release clause that activates next summer, meaning he would be allowed to leave the club for around £70m, all of Europe's top clubs are circling around the Norwegian hitman.

That includes City, and former Leeds and Southampton midfielder Palmer has told ' This is Futbol ' that he'd be surprised if Pep Guardiola hasn't already secured a deal for the 20-year-old to get him in this winter.

“I think they’ll have probably already wrapped that deal up myself for the January transfer window," he said. "I’d be surprised if the Haaland deal’s not done.

“Knowing that he’s going to be available at the end of the season, they might even give 100 million for Haaland so Dortmund get an extra £40m to let him out at Christmas.”

Haaland joined Dortmund in the winter transfer window of 2020, so him moving mid-season is not entirely out of the question and Dortmund could be tempted to secure extra cash, knowing he will inevitably leave the club in the summer anyway.

City haven't struggled too much without a striker, scoring 24 goals in their eight games so far, but nobody would say no to signing Haaland right now.
