Torres move draws closer as winger undergoes medical
Manchester City are on the verge of completing their £21million move for Ferran Torres, with the Spaniard undergoing a medical in Barcelona.
The Valencia winger is expected to become City’s first summer signing as they look to reclaim their Premier League title from Liverpool next term.
However, due to travel restrictions placed on anyone entering the United Kingdom from Spain, Torres is having checks done before flying to Manchester.
The medical took place at the clinic of Ramon Cugat, a knee specialist who City have turned to in the past when players have suffered serious injuries.
Torres, who is a replacement for Leroy Sane, is expected to be joined at City by Nathan Ake.
Pep Guardiola’s side have seen a bid of £40 million accepted by Bournemouth for the centre-back, with a deal due to be completed when the Dutchman returns from holiday.

Josep Maria Orobitg, who represents the La Masia graduate, also revealed the right-back has no intention of leaving the Camp Nou having made more than 250 appearances for the club's first-team.
“Sergi Roberto has no plans to leave Barca," the agent said, amid reports on the continent that the player was on City’s shortlist as they look at new right-back options.
“Now there are no clubs showing interest and Barça has not submitted any proposals for the player to us.”
Roberto, who has also played in midfield during his career, made his senior Barcelona debut in 2010 when Pep Guardiola was in charge of the club.
He has played twice against City before, coming off the bench in both legs as Barca knocked Manuel Pellegrini’s team out of the 2013/14 Champions League.
Clichy explains how Guardiola influenced coaching plans
Gael Clichy has revealed how his time playing under Pep Guardiola has convinced him to consider a move into coaching when he hangs up his boots.
The French defender, currently on the books of newly-crowned Turkish champions Istanbul Basaksehirspor, played more than 30 games in Guardiola’s first City season before leaving the Etihad Stadium for his current club.
Now 35-years-old, the Premier League title winner has started to consider life beyond his playing days and spoke of his former manager’s influence.
"I think I still have two years in the legs, but the years spent with Pep Guardiola made me want to become a coach,” Clichy told BBC Radio 5 live's Euro Leagues Podcast.
"I am going to give it a go because I love the way he conducts himself as manager. I want my three years here in Turkey, I've liked that I could be important to players around me."
