Man City evening headlines as Sergio Aguero makes admission about future and €22m defender linked

Here are the Manchester City evening headlines on Saturday, May 2.

Aguero refuses to rule out Spain move

City legend Sergio Aguero is not ruling out leaving the club when his contract expires in 2021, with a return to Spain potentially in the pipeline.

The Argentine, who joined from Atletico Madrid in 2011, has gone on to become City’s all-time top scorer and has helped the club to four league titles.

While reiterating his desire to one day lift the Champions League in blue, the 31-year-old has suggested a move away from the Etihad is not out of the question.

“For now I just want to try to win the Champions League with City. That would be an incredible achievement for me and the club.” he said.

“I don’t rule out going back to Spain, or going to any country. I don’t know what I will do. Today I feel good and comfortable in Manchester.”

City 'chase Argentine defender'

Pep Guardiola’s continued attempts to bolster his backline have led him to a potential move for River Plate defender Lucas Martínez Quarta, according to reports.

Italian publication Calciomecarto report that City are among the clubs eyeing up the 23-year-old who has a €22 million release clause.

However, the Blues could face competition for his signature from the likes Ajax and Borussia Dortmund.

Pep Guardiola set for ‘ideal’ pre-season

Manchester City could unexpectedly be set to play their pre-season friendlies in England this summer.

With international warm-up matches in the close season the norm for top clubs like City, the current global uncertainty is set to restrict overseas travel this summer.

This means friendlies in the likes of China and USA won’t be possible with Guardiola’s side likely to organise fixtures closer to home against EFL clubs.

In recent years, City have had to deal with poor pitches, cancelled flights, jetlag and packed schedules on their global tours.

This year, Guardiola can avoid similar problems by doing all his preparation from the comfort of the UK.
