Man City evening headlines as Guardiola urged to sign Spurs midfielder Harry Winks

Here are the latest Manchester City evening headlines for Wednesday August 19.

City confirm Claudio Bravo replacement

Zack Steffen will replace Claudio Bravo as City’s second-choice goalkeeper ahead of the new season.

The 25-year-old, who spent the last season on loan at Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf, is set to return to the club and act as a deputy for Ederson.

Bravo’s four-year stay at the Etihad came to an end on Tuesday when it was confirmed that he would be released following the expiration of his contract.

Steffen joined City last summer in a £5.2m deal from MLS side Columbus Crew, and has impressed on loan in Germany.

Injury hampered the second half of his campaign with Dusseldorf, though he has clearly done enough to earn his place in Pep Guardiola’s squad for next season.

Jesus reveals how he has changed his diet since joining City

City striker Gabriel Jesus has explained how he has changed his lifestyle since arriving at the club in 2017.

The Brazil international has excelled in Manchester, competing for a place in the starting XI with Sergio Aguero and proving a reliable goal scorer in Guardiola’s prolific team.

And he has admitted that he has had to do things differently having made the switch to the Premier League.

“I had a change,” he told Globo. “I used to eat a lot of junk food. Like pizza, hamburgers.

“Do you see it? Lots of salad, pasta, fruit, vegetables, I never thought my fridge would be like this.

“Before it was just chocolate, cake, pudding… I miss my pudding, man.”

Jesus also spoke of one of his favourite pastimes: playing video games. He added: “I really like to play. I think it’s therapy. I play with my friends, but I also play a lot with the national team. Usually Neymar, Casemiro, Arthur, Paquetá too. We play Counter Strike.

“People already recognised us in the game. Then it’s complicated. The guys keep talking, asking, even asking to subscribe to their profiles.”

Former City midfielder urges Guardiola to sign Winks

Ex-City player Michael Brown has suggested City would be wise to sign Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks this summer.

Guardiola is reportedly an admirer of the England international, though it remains to be seen if that will turn into concrete interest.

Brown, though, has claimed Winks would be an “excellent” addition for City as they look to regain the Premier League title from Liverpool next season.

“It could help him improve as a player, the way Manchester City play, he’s a great link player and is really talented – in possession we’ve seen how he protects the back-four, how he can move the ball around,” Brown told Football Insider.

“I think he’d be a great addition for Manchester City. We don’t know what the price will be, he’s a talented footballer and I think one, Spurs won’t want to let him go and two, he would be an excellent addition, something slightly different to Manchester City.”
