Man City evening headlines as Erling Haaland links addressed, Pep Guardiola issues injury update

Here are the Manchester City evening headlines for Friday, November 27.

Guardiola gives City injury update

Pep Guardiola has revealed that Manchester City have no new injury concerns ahead of tomorrow’s game against Burnley.

Fernandinho, Benjamin Mendy and Aleks Zinchenko all returned to the squad as the Blues beat Olympiakos in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Nathan Ake is the only potential absentee with a knock sustained while on international duty with the Netherlands.

In his pre-match press conference, Guardiola said: “It's much better to have everyone because in this amount of games the rotation and everyone being involved will be so important.”

Dortmund chief dismisses Haaland speculation amid City

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has rejected claims Erling Haaland could leave the club next year.

The striker is among the most highly-rated young talents in Europe having made a prolific start to his Dortmund career.

And his performances have led to speculation over a potential move to Manchester United or City.

“We plan for the long term with Erling. [Rumours] do not have to be dealt with at all,” Zorc told a press conference ahead of Dortmund’s Bundesliga clash against Koln on Saturday. “I will see him with us for a long time.”

Man United defender lifts lid on City interest

Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly has revealed that City were among the teams interested in him before his move to Old Trafford in 2016.

The Ivorian attracted a host of top clubs having emerged as a promising young defender with La Liga side Villarreal.

But he claimed that the prospect of working with Jose Mourinho was too appealing to turn down.

“In the summer of 2016 there were many rumours,” Bailly told Mundo Deportivo. “I was in Ivory Coast, in the dining room at home with my mother when the phone rang. It was a Portuguese number; Mourinho. He told me to come with him, that he liked me since he saw me with Espanyol and Villarreal. Manchester City were also interested, but if Mourinho calls you, you can’t say no.

“You can’t say no to Barça either. It just didn’t happen because the interest was not public or so explicit.”
