Man City duo Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker test positive for Covid-19

Manchester City have announced that Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker have tested positive for Covid-19.

The duo - along with two unnamed members of staff - will now undergo a period of self-isolation.

City host Newcastle at the Etihad on Boxing Day but will be without striker Jesus and defender Walker.

In a statement, the club said: " Manchester City FC can confirm that Gabriel Jesus, Kyle Walker, and two members of staff have tested positive for COVID-19.

"All four personnel will now observe a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine.

"Everyone at the Club wishes our colleagues a speedy recovery over the Christmas period ahead of their return to work, training and competition."

Jesus has been playing regularly for City in the absence of Sergio Aguero, but hasn't been as prolific as he or boss Pep Guardiola would have liked.

He has just four goals in 15 games in all competitions this term and ended a drought when he scored against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

England defender Walker has also been a Blues regular, playing 18 times in all competitions and scoring at former club Sheffield United to give City three points at Bramall Lane earlier in the campaign.
