Man City draw Sheffield Wednesday in FA Cup 5th round

Manchester City will play Sheffield Wednesday in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Pep Guardiola's side eased through to the last-16 with a 4-0 home win over Championship side Fulham, whose captain Tim Ream was sent off in the sixth minute after fouling Gabriel Jesus in the penalty box.

As they continue their defence of the competition they will travel to Hillsborough to play Wednesday, with ties to take place in the week commencing March 2. The Blues are at home to Arsenal on March 1 and away to United a week later, while their last-16 tie with Real Madrid bookends those Premier League games.

For the first time in the history of the FA Cup, the fifth round will be played in midweek in an attempt to ease fixture congestion for clubs in the latter months of the season. There will also be no replays, so extra time and penalties will decide any matches that are level after 90 minutes.

As well as defending the title they won last May with a 6-0 thumping of Watford, Guardiola's City are looking to continue a remarkable run that sees them unbeaten in 19 domestic cup matches since they lost to Wigan back in February 2018; remaining unbeaten against United in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg would make it 20 before the FA Cup game.

The Owls earned their place in the Last-16 with a 2-1 win over fellow Championship side QPR and will meet City for the first time since an FA Cup tie in 2015, where City came from behind thanks to a James Milner brace to advance.
