Man City draw Everton in FA Cup quarter-final

Manchester City will face Everton in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

The date and kick-off time have not yet been confirmed but the tie will be played on the weekend of March 20 and be held at Goodison Park.

In a temporary rule change to prevent the football calender from getting even more packed in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no replays this season so the game must be settled on the day, through extra-time and penalties if required.

The match will see City's Premier League encounter with Wolves, initially scheduled for March 20, postponed and rescheduled to a later date and it will be the final fixture before the first international break of 2021.

It makes it yet another busy week for the Blues, who travel to London to face Fulham the weekend prior and will then welcome Borussia Monchengladbach to the Etihad for the Champions League last-16 second leg on March 16.

City eased to the quarter-finals after a comfortable 3-1 victory over the Championship's Swansea City on Wednesday, with goals from Kyle Walker, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus, after previously defeating Birmingham City and Cheltenham Town.

The Toffees qualified for the quarters after a thrilling 5-4 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the fifth round, having previously beaten Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday.

City are yet to face Everton this season as the first meeting, scheduled for December 28, had to be postponed due to a coronavirus outbreak in the City squad. The fixture has been rearranged for February 17.

Pep Guardiola will be hoping to take his team one step further in the competition this season, after they were eliminated in last year's semi-final by eventual winners Arsenal at Wembley.

City last won the tournament in 2019 to complete their historic domestic treble, defeating Watford 6-0 in the final.

The full quarter-final draw is as follows:

  • Everton vs Manchester City
  • Bournemouth vs Southampton
  • Leicester City vs Manchester United
  • Barnsley or Chelsea vs Sheffield United
