Man City defender Philippe Sander's completes loan switch to Anderlecht

Man City defender Philippe Sandler has joined Belgian side Anderlecht on loan for the entirety of the 2019/20 season.

Sandler joined the club in 2018 from PEC Zwolle in a £2.25million move and impressed in two senior appearances, coming on a defensive midfielder in the 7-0 FA Cup victory against Rotherham and playing playing the full 90 minutes at the back against Burton in the Carabao Cup second leg.

Pep Guardiola has sought him out for praise and there was thought that the Dutchman may push his way into the first team picture this season, especially since the departure of former captain Vincent Kompany.

However, Sandler has instead joined up with Kompany who left City after 11 years to become the player/manager at hometown club Anderlecht.

The 22-year-old will wear the No. 34 shirt in Belgium, just as he does for City, and said on Instagram: "Happy to be part of a new chapter for this big club!"

Aleks Zinchenko, Fabian Delph and Aro Murci all wished him well in the replies to the post.

Sandler will join up with former Blue Samir Nasri during his time at Anderlecht.
