Man City defender Kyle Walker set to sign new contract

Kyle Walker is set to sign a new two-year contract extension at Manchester City .

The 29-year-old has three years remaining on the deal he signed when completing a £50million move from Tottenham in 2017, but City have been keen to tie the England international down further.

Walker's new deal will see him commit his future to City until 2024, by which time he will be 34. He will become the fourth player to sign a contract lasting at least five more years at the Etihad, alongside Aymeric Laporte , Ederson, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden.

The MEN understands that City are set to announce Walker's contract extension next week.

There is some uncertainty around the Blues' plans at right-back this summer, with the future of Danilo uncertain amid interest from Serie A clubs. If the Brazilian does depart then City have been linked with a move for Juventus defender Joao Cancelo.

But the desire to see Walker extend his contract, and his eagerness to commit until the final years of his career, suggest he remains a major part of Pep Guardiola's plans.

Walker briefly lost his place to Danilo last season, with City suffering a wobble over the Christmas period, but he returned to become a first team regular in the New Year, making a total of 53 appearances in all competition last season.
