Man City defender Eliaquim Mangala agrees terms for Valencia return

Forgotten Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala has agreed to join Valencia on a permanent two-year deal, the LaLiga club announced on Monday.

The 28-year-old Frenchman signed for City in a £32million switch from Porto in 2014 and put pen to paper on a 12-month contract extension earlier this year, though has not played a competitive game since February 2018.

A statement on Valencia's official website read: "Valencia CF have reached an agreement with Eliaquim Mangala that results in the French defender becoming a Valencia CF player until June 30, 2021 pending the completion of the definitive paperwork."

Mangala was previously on loan at Valencia during the 2016/17 season. He made 33 appearances and chipped in with two goals at the Mestalla.

Mangala also spent time at Everton in 2018, though was limited to just two outings under Sam Allardyce due to a season-ending knee injury.
