Man City, dead ting and Chernobyl: Liverpool's year in Google searches

In a year that saw political unrest, huge sporting gains by England's teams and celebrity scandals, there were plenty of things for Scousers to Google this year.

The search giant has announced the results of its 2019 Year in Search today, revealing the topics, events and people that captured the world's attention.

Google has narrowed down its results to show what people in England were searching for and have went one step further by showing what Liverpool's top trending queries were.

It may not surprise some the top searched thing in Liverpool this year was simply: "Man City".

Sport dominated some of our most searched for trends as next on the list was "Rugby World Cup", followed by "Anthony Joshua" in fifth place and "Liverpool v Arsenal" in 10th.

As well as keeping up with the latest sporting news, we also searched for "Game of Thrones", "Chernobyl", "Joker" and "Avengers Endgame".

But like the rest of England, the fire at the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral caught our attention as that was the seventh most searched for term.

It was England's sixth.

The rest of England searched for very similar things to Liverpool, but "Thanos", "Cricket World Cup" and "Caitlyn Jenner" made the top ten.

Google also revealed the top "How to" and "What is" searches.

Many people were looking to find out more about Brexit, with "What is Article 50" and "What is Article 13" among some of the most Googled questions.

Love Island's popularity also filtered into our most Googled questions as many were scratching their heads at Amber's "dead ting" insult to love rival Joanna.

"What is a dead ting" was the seventh most Googled What Is question.

But Liverpool's victorious Champions League win was on the mind of people across the country, as "How to watch the Champions League Final".
