Man City could receive windfall following Brahim Diaz' move to AC Milan

Manchester City could receive a windfall in the future after former player Brahim Diaz rejoined AC Milan from Real Madrid.

Diaz, who joined the LaLiga giants from City for around £15m in 2019, spent last year on loan at the Serie A club following a difficult spell in Madrid.

He showed glimpses of his talent last season, which was enough for Milan to sign him up to another loan deal for the next two seasons.

Since the confirmation by AC Milan on their official website, it has been reported by Fabrizio Romano that the deal includes an option to buy after the expiration of the loan, for the sum of €22m (£18.9m).

That last point could be significant for City, who are due 15 percent of any fee for the 21-year-old.

It means that should Milan opt to sign the Spaniard permanently, City should receive around £2.8m.

In the unlikely event that Manchester United were to sign him, that sell-on percentage for City would increase to 40 percent due to a remarkable clause included in the deal with Real Madrid.

Diaz scored two goals in 21 appearances for City before leaving the Premier League champions in the summer of 2019.
