With the Premier League title race shaping up to be a three-horse race, Manchester City have firmly cemented themselves within it.
City, who saw their seven-game winning run come to an end on Tuesday evening, losing 2-1 to RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League, currently sit at the top of the Premier League table after 15 matches, one point ahead of Liverpool.
Since suffering an opening day 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Pep Guardiola's side have been in excellent form, winning 11 of their last 14 matches, including five wins in their last five matches.
Given their excellent form, it remains to be seen if City will dive into the transfer market next month and search for reinforcements. The debate about the lack of a striker in Guardiola's team has continued, but City have been coping just fine without a natural No.9 within their ranks.
With that in mind, it is unlikely to see City do anything drastic in January in terms of incomings, but nothing can be ruled out, certainly as far as the winter transfer window is concerned.
Instead, however, departures, certainly in the case of loan deals, is likely to be the avenue that the majority of City's work next month comes from.
Goalkeeper Scott Carson and midfielder Fernandinho are the only two first-team players whose current deals expire in June, meaning City are not likely to be under enormous pressure in that department.
