Man City confirm Champions League squad ahead of Lyon fixture

Manchester City have confirmed their 27-man squad for the remaining rounds of the Champions League in Lisbon, but Sergio Aguero has not made the trip.

Aguero suffered a knee injury which required surgery in his first start since football's resumption against Burnley but it was hoped that he might be fit in time for the last 16 second leg against Real Madrid.

Unfortunately the Argentine didn't recover in time for the match and hasn't made the journey to the Portuguese capital with the rest of his teammates as he continues his rehabilitation. Aguero is in the Champions League squad, however, and could possibly join the team at a later date.

Want-away defender Eric Garcia is in the squad, however, and he has been joined by several other teenagers with goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, Tommy Doyle, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Cole Palmer, Adrian Bernabe, and Felix Nmecha all included.

Following their historic victory over Madrid on Friday, City will now play the rest of the competition in an unprecedented condensed mini-tournament, with the rounds being played in a one legged knockout format.

Pep Guardiola's side will meet French outfit Lyon in the quarter-finals at the José Alvalade Stadium, the home of Sporting Lisbon, on Saturday, August 15.

Confirmed City squad: Claudio Bravo, Kyle Walker, John Stones, Raheem Sterling, Ilkay Gundogan, Gabriel Jesus, Aleks Zinchenko, Aymeric Laporte, Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, David Silva, Benjamin Mendy, Fernandinho, Riyad Mahrez, Joao Cancelo, Nicolas Otamendi, Ederson, Scott Carson, Phil Foden, Eric Garcia, Gavin Bazunu, Felix Nmecha, Tommy Doyle, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Cole Palmer, Adrian Bernabe.
