Man City closing in on Nathan Ake transfer for £40million

Manchester City are closing in on the £40million purchase of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth.

The Blues are locked in talks with the relegated Cherries for the Holland international, just a day after they seem to have wrapped up a move for Valencia winger Ferran Torres.

Ake has long been on City's radar, and they are still hoping to add another central defender to their squad after losing Vincent Kompany last summer, and with doubts over the futures of Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones.

The two clubs are close to agreement in a deal for £40million, with an extra £1million in add-ons - but the deal has not yet been struck

Ake's position remains unclear, but it is unlikely City would be so advanced in a deal unless they were sure the player wants to join them.

Ake was said to be keeping his options open and was pondering a return to Chelsea, but the indications now are that City have persuaded him to move north.

The Blues are expected to announce the arrival of Torres in the next week, and both players were targeted as part of the shake-up of the squad which Pep Guardiola wanted after a Premier League campaign which saw them finish 18 points behind champions Liverpool.
