Man City 'closing in on move for full-back target'

Manchester City are closing in on a deal for Joao Cancelo, according to reports in Italy.

The Blues are believed to be keen on a move for the Juventus right-back amid uncertainty over Danilo's future at the Etihad.

Cancelo, a 14-times-capped Portugal international, made 34 appearances for the Old Lady in his first campaign at the club last season following a move from Valencia.

And Italian outlet Calciomercato claim that incoming Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri has sanctioned the sale of the 25-year-old for tactical reasons.

It is reported that Juve director of football Fabio Paratici travelled to England last week to thrash out a deal with the Blues.

It comes as City near an agreement with Kyle Walker over a two-year contract extension at the Etihad.

The 29-year-old right-back has three years to run on the deal he signed when moving from Tottenham two summers ago, but the Blues are keen to retain the services of the England international for an additional two years.

Walker will be 34 by the time his proposed extension expires in 2024, with the former Sheffield United man poised become the fourth player to sign a contract lasting at least five more years at the Etihad alongside  Aymeric Laporte , Ederson,  Bernardo Silva  and Phil Foden.
