Man City close in on transfer deadline day deal for Girona full-back Pedro Porro

Manchester City are closing in on Girona full-back Pedro Porro on deadline day.

The 19-year-old caught the eye last season despite the La Liga side's relegation and has impressed the Blues enough to bring him in on a permanent deal . But he has been signed as a development player rather than a first team squad player and is expected to be loaned back out for the next season.

City have close ties with the Spanish club; City Football Group and Pere Guardiola each took a 44.3 per cent stake in the club in 2017. Pablo Maffeo, Angelino, Aleix Garcia and Douglas Luiz are some of the players that have gone the other way on loan.

City are also confident of completing a loan deal for Scott Carson before the deadline at 5pm on Thursday.

Pep Guardiola's side were looking at bringing in Eibar goalkeeper Asier Riesgo as third-choice behind Ederson and Claudio Bravo earlier in the summer. However, with too many non-homegrown players already in the squad they have turned to Derby County goalkeeper Carson.

Rodri and Joao Cancelo have been the major additions to the City squad in this window, with both expected to challenge for a first team place. Angelino has also been brought back from PSV Eindhoven to add competition for left-back after the club exercised their buyback clause.
