Man City Champions League squad for Atalanta clash revealed

Pep Guardiola has named youngsters Tommy Doyle and Ian Carlo Poveda, as well as Eric Garcia, in his travelling Man City squad to face Atalanta in the Champions League.

Guardiola's options for the match, especially in midfield, have been heavily limited due to injury and suspension.

Captain David Silva has joined the club's extensive injury list of Rodri, Aleks Zinchenko, Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte this week after picking up a muscle injury in Saturday's victory over Southampton.

With Fernandinho having to fill in at centre-back in Laporte's absence and Phil Foden suspended after picking up a late red card in the reverse fixture with the Italian side, Guardiola has had to bring Doyle with him to Milan.

The 18-year-old made his first team debut in the Carabao Cup victory over Southampton last week and impressed while playing in the unfamiliar position of holding-midfield.

Poveda was an unused substitute in that game but has played for the first-team before, when he played the full 90 minutes in the 1-0 League Cup victory over Burton Albion last season.

Garcia is a more familiar face as he has been promoted to a permanent member of the first team following City's injury issues in defence this season and has made three appearances so far.

City will travel to Northern Italy hoping for a repeat of the encounter at the Etihad two weeks ago in which City came from behind to win 5-1 thanks to a hat-trick from Raheem Sterling and a Sergio Aguero brace, just without the injuries and red cards.

The full squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Ederson, Bravo, Carson

Defenders: Walker, Stones, Angelino, Mendy, Cancelo, Otamendi, Garcia

Midfielders: Gundogan, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Fernandinho, Mahrez, Doyle

Forwards: Sterling, Jesus, Aguero, Poveda

City will face off against Atalanta on Wednesday, November 6 at the San Srio, with kick-off coming at 8pm.
