Man City chairman sends message to fans after club posts record revenues

Khaldoon Al Mubarak has predicted more success at Manchester City as the club celebrates its 11th consecutive year of growth under their owners .

Having become the second English club ever to break the £500m revenue barrier last season , the latest annual report released on Tuesday confirmed that the club have backed that up with record revenue of £535.2m over a 2018/19 campaign that saw them win a clean sweep of domestic trophies.

They also posted profit (£10.1m) for a fifth consecutive year and a wage/revenue balance of 59 per cent; while that figure is up from 52 per cent on last season it is still at a sensible level - the 2018 average across the league was 63 per cent.

As City attempt again to win every trophy available to them - they hoovered up the Community Shield in August and are progressing well in the Champions League and Carabao Cup but are fourth in the Premier League, nine points behind leaders Liverpool - the City chairman has spoken about how the club is set up for success even as they plan for different challenges.

“Our organisation is now at a level of maturity that enables us to plan on multi-year cycles both in terms of our management of squads and more widely across the business," he said. "This strategic planning has allowed us to create an environment in which continued on-pitch success is both possible and likely, and financial sustainability is a reality.”

He added: "We remain committed to continuing our investment in youth development and advanced facilities, but in doing so we know that the challenges of the next decade will be very different to those of the last. What therefore must also remain constant is our drive to continuously improve and innovate, be that on the pitch, commercially, in infrastructure development or in our service to fans and our community."
