Man City chairman leads messages of support for Pep Guardiola and his loved ones

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak was one of many to send messages of warmth to Pep Guardiola and his loved ones after the manager's mother died following a coronavirus diagnosis.

The passing of Dolors Sala Carrió, 82, was sadly confirmed on Monday afternoon. She died in Barcelona, where Guardiola has donated £920,000 (€1m) to help the fight against a pandemic that is wreaking havoc across the world.

City's chairman shared his thoughts via the club, saying: “Our prayers and heartfelt sympathies are with Pep and his family at this overwhelmingly sad time. He and they have the love and support of the entire City family.”

The tragedy also united the footballing world, with former City players as well as clubs and players that Guardiola has either managed or come up against - including Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Real Madrid - sharing their sympathy with the City boss and those close to him at this difficult time.

Here are some of the supportive messages.
