Man City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak confident over UEFA Financial Fair Play investigation

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has said the club are "very comfortable" about the outcome of a UEFA investigation - if the decision is based on facts.

The Blues are being looked into for alleged violations of Financial Fair Play, with news emerging - much to the anger of City - recently that UEFA's investigatory chamber has referred the case to the adjudicatory chamber for punishment and recommended a ban from the Champions League.

Yves Leterme, the chief FFP investigator, said back in February that the club faced the "heaviest punishment" if allegations could be proven, although he was personally criticised in a strongly-worded statement from City earlier this month.

Speaking about the investigation for the first time, chairman Al Mubarak expressed confidence in their position as long as they are judged on the available facts.

“Am I uncomfortable? No," he said.

"I respect regulatory bodies doing their job and any regulatory process that asks questions. We have to professionally respond which is what we have done. We are dealing with each of these entities as per the process.

"We have clear answers. I believe, quite comfortably, if the process is going to be judged on facts then unquestionably we will prevail. If it’s not about facts and it’s about other things, then it is a different conversation. But I strongly hope that these regulatory bodies will ultimately make the decision based on facts.

"Having said that, just going back on this wave that we are dealing with, I think, listen, I’ll be philosophical about this, the reality is we have dealt with this before, with UEFA, this is not the first time we have dealt with it. We are going through the appropriate steps and we’re confident in our position, very comfortable in our position. I’m not concerned about that because facts will prevail.”

Of the four investigations City are under, UEFA's has seen the most scrutiny placed on the club in the media.

The FA are looking into an alleged payment made to Jadon Sancho's agent when the player was 14, FIFA are investigating City's alleged conduct in signing academy players and the Premier League are examining the club's "financial regulations, academy player recruitment and third-party ownership".
