Man City CEO Ferran Soriano reveals plans for Mumbai City after CFG investment

Ferran Soriano has hinted that there could be players or coaches moved out to India to help the latest club in the City Football Group (CFG) .

Mumbai City were confirmed on Thursday as the eighth club under the ownership of the CFG after Manchester City's owners purchased 65 per cent of the Indian Super League side.

City have previously moved players between their clubs as and when required; Patrick Vieira and Dome Torrent coaching at New York City, David Villa appearing for Melbourne City and a number of City youngsters going on loan to Girona are all examples .

As he drew comparisons between Mumbai and New York, Soriano suggested that there could be some reinforcements to help the Indian arm of the company.

"We are not here to import anything. We are here to help unleash the power of Indian football," Soriano told Goal . "Maybe you don’t realise how much power is already there. There are good players and coaches and we will help them. Help means sharing experiences, sharing technology, inspiring them. That is what we aim to do. Maybe we will bring some people, for sure, but ultimately we will unleash the power of Indian football.

"Mumbai is a fantastic city. It feels like New York. In New York, we have been very successful. We started six years ago from nothing and we did very well. I think Mumbai is a cosmopolitan city and I am hundred per cent sure football will be successful in Mumbai."
