Man City boss Pep Guardiola makes Bernardo Silva transfer joke ahead of Barcelona fixture

Pep Guardiola has indicated that Manchester City's transfer business is pretty much done and dusted.

In terms of incomings, City have so far brought in four new players this summer - Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Stefan Ortega and Sergio Gomez. Whilst the likes of Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus to depart, there is now uncertainty surrounding just one senior player.

Bernardo Silva has been linked all summer long with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona. Despite still having three years to run on his contract he has continually been talked up for a possible move away.

Next week will see an intriguing juxtaposition when City travel to Spain to face Barcelona in a friendly.

The Nou Camp meeting on August 24 is being held to raise proceeds towards ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) research in support of former Barcelona goalkeeper and coach Juan Carlos Unzué. who was diagnosed with the incurable degenerative neurological condition just over two years ago.

Ahead of the clash, Guardiola appeared on Spanish radio station Catalunya Radio , and could not resist a cheeky dig at his old club regarding the constant Silva links.

“You (Barcelona) will see him play on Wednesday, won’t you? But what is certain is that he will play for us, Manchester City,” he said.

Speaking earlier this summer about Silva, the City chief reiterated his desire to keep the 28-year-old, saying: “110 per cent I want him to stay. I love him. I go weak when I talk about him and he knows how much we want him."
