Man City boss Pep Guardiola issues seven-word response to Liverpool's Etihad title chances

Pep Guardiola says it "doesn't matter" if Liverpool clinch the Premier League title at the Etihad Stadium.

Man City host Liverpool on Thursday, July 2 and the Reds can seal the title if they take just a point at the Etihad, as long as the two sides match results in their next fixtures against Chelsea and Crystal Palace respectively.

It's a prospect that might not sit well with rivals supporters but Guardiola, who was speaking after City defeated Burnley 5-0, believes the Reds are already champions.

He told BBC reporter Connor McNamara : “It doesn’t matter, they are already champions”.

The Reds are currently 20 points ahead of City at the top of the table, having won all but three of their Premier League matches this season.

Guardiola's men have returned after the restart in fine form, winning against Arsenal and Burnley, while Liverpool drew with Everton in the Merseyside derby on Sunday.
