Man City boss Pep Guardiola confirms Sergio Aguero injury ahead of Liverpool title 'decider'

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is fearful Sergio Aguero may be out for the rest of the season following the injury he suffered on Monday evening.

City defeated Burnley 5-0 at the Etihad to move to 20 points behind league leaders Liverpool. But Aguero was forced to limp off just before half-time.

The two sides will face off on July 2 in what could be the title deciding fixture, with City first set to battle it out with Chelsea on Thursday - a defeat against Frank Lampard's men could hand Liverpool the title if the Reds are to overcome Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

But Guardiola has now been handed what could be a major injury blow for the remainder of the campaign.

Aguero, who had to be replaced just before the break after a clash with Ben Mee, has been struggling with a knee injury according to the Man City manager.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the Spaniard explained: "We'll see tomorrow in a better way what [Aguero] has.

"He felt something in his knee. He has struggled in the last month, some pain in his knee, so we will see."

When asked if he was worried about the injury and Aguero's prospects for the rest of the season, Guardiola added: "I'm not a doctor, but it doesn't look good."
