Man City boss Pep Guardiola calls for coronavirus decision ahead of facing Arsenal

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has opened up on coronavirus ahead of his side's clash against Arsenal in the Premier League tomorrow.

The UK Government discussed the potential of playing games behind closed doors on Monday during a Cobra meeting with sporting authorities present.

But the decision was taken to not make such a drastic move just yet, despite the fact that the Serie A has been suspended and games are being played behind closed doors in France and Spain.

Guardiola, however, feels that the Premier League should go one step further and simply put the season on hold now.

"It has happened already in Italy, the league is suspended and in Spain, where the games are behind closed doors," Guardiola explained in a press conference today. "I think it's going to happen here.

"We have to ask if it works to play football without spectators. If the people do not come to watch the games there is no sense, I wouldn't like to play in the Champions League, Premier League, cups, without people.

"We are here for the people. One game, two games, maybe, but not longer. We do it for the people. I would not love to play without people in the stadium."

City suffered a 2-0 loss at Manchester United on Sunday but still come into the clash four points clear in second place in the Premier League.

Arsenal are way down in ninth despite three consecutive league victories, with the latest coming in a 1-0 home win over West Ham last Saturday.
