LONDON: First-half strikes by Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero were all Manchester City needed to defeat relegation-threatened Fulham 2-0 in their Premier League match at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
The victory lifts City back into first place, a point clear of Liverpool, who are at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. However, City will have a game in hand after the Liverpool match.
It was the ninth straight defeat for Fulham, who lie second-last and are almost certainly looking at Championship football next season.
Fulham were so ineffective on the ball that, when the hosts finally strung two passes together in the 15th minute, there were ironic cheers around Craven Cottage.
Manchester City have now won eight successive League matches. They have won all seven of their League meetings with Fulham, scoring 21 goals and conceding just three.
Fulham have never beaten City in 15 attempts in all competitions.
