Man City beat Barcelona and Juventus to sign Sporting Lisbon winger Felix Correia

Manchester City have beaten off competition from Barcelona and Juventus to land Sporting Lisbon winger Felix Correia.

The 18-year-old, who also plays for Portugal Under-19s, is expected in Manchester imminently to complete the move.

He is expected to be loaned out next season, with no decision taken yet as to his destination.

But Spanish sister club Girona, as well as Dutch associate NAC Breda are both in the frame.

Reports in Portugal claim Correia will cost the Blues around £6.2million but City say the price is actually half of that.

Correia was pictured travelling to Manchester from Lisbon with his agent Eduardo Marinho and is expected to sign a five-year deal as long as his medical goes to plan.

In line with their usual policy on development players, City are not expected to announce the signing.

Sporting wanted to keep the player, who has played for Portugal from under-15 level to under-19.

They hoped to introduce him to the first team squad either next season or the season after.

In Lisbon he is seen as the natural heir to other good wing products like Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Luis Figo.

He is said to be technically excellent, as well as quick with good ball control and dribbling ability, and an eye for goal, and can play on either flank.

Correia is also able to play as an attacking midfielder, and scored seven goals in 20 games for Sporting’s under-19 team this season.

He has been watched closely by City, and scored a spectacular volley as Portugal beat England under-20s 3-2 at this summer’s Toulon tournament.

He has been likened to Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele and had also been watched by Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.
