Man City are advertising their new kit right outside Old Trafford - and fans are loving it

Manchester City fans are loving an advert for their new kit which has appeared on a billboard right outside Old Trafford.

Last season's domestic treble winners have officially launched the first shirts in their bumper deal with new kit manufacturer Puma , which have gone on sale today.

Billboards advertising the home and away strips have sprung up around Greater Manchester today.

And Blues fans have particularly enjoyed the appearance of one just a few hundred yards away from the home of their arch-rivals United.

The eye-catching advert has appeared on the big electronic billboard which arches over the White City roundabout, where Trafford Road crosses Chester Road.

The alternating billboard says 'This is Our City' alongside pictures of Blues stars in their new shirts (Manchester Evening News)

The rotating billboard shows City stars including Sergio Aguero, Leroy Sane, David Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Ederson all modelling City's home shirt and their new Hacienda-themed black away shirt.

It is accompanied with the words: "This is Our City" and the Blues badge and Puma logo.

And fans have taken to Twitter to revel in what they see as a clever dig at their rivals.

Your MCFC said: "City’s new kit being advertised on huge billboards outside Old Trafford # BertPoints "

HLTCO said: "Manchester City advertising their new kit with the tag-line "THIS IS OUR CITY" on a billboard right outside Old Trafford is the sort of pettiness we can all get behind."

Whilst Frank Middleton said: "Love it haha."

The club's have previous with billboards with a 'Welcome to Manchester' poster erected on Deansgate in the city centre following Carlos Tevez's  controversial move to City in 2009 angering then-United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The new shirts are the first in a ten-year deal worth a reported £650m City have signed with the German sportswear giant Puma who replace Nike as their kit supplier.

The sky blue home shirt, has divided opinion with the inclusion of purple lettering.

However the black away shirt which which black strip features yellow stripes on the shoulder, a nod to the interior design of Manchester's iconic Hacienda nightclub, has gone down a storm.

They were officially launched at a warehouse party late on Sunday night.

The three major trophies won by City last term - the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup - as well as the Community Shield have been on display at the club store today which has re-opened after a Puma makeover.
