Man City announce open-top bus parade to celebrate Premier League title win

Manchester City are to celebrate their fourth Premier League title victory in five seasons with an open-top bus parade on Monday. The Blues clinched the crown in dramatic style at the Etihad Stadium today, coming from 2-0 down to Aston Villa with 20 minutes left to score three times in five minutes and see off the challenge of Liverpool, who beat Wolves.

City immediately announced that they will be taking the trophy round the city centre on Monday. In a press release, the Blues said: "The club will celebrate its victory with fans with an open-top bus parade in Manchester city centre on Monday 23rd May, concluding with a stage show at Deansgate (Beetham Tower)."

Guardiola and the squad will depart from Exchange Square at approximately 6pm, travel onto St Mary’s Gate and then south on Deansgate, before finishing at the Beetham Tower where a live stage show will take place.

Club skipper Fernandinho would lift the trophy amid jubilant scenes at the Etihad Stadium, after his last game for the club, and paid tribute to the team and the club, saying: “To finish my nine years at City by winning my fifth Premier League title is a dream come true.

“This squad is genuinely special. The togetherness of the players is like nothing I have experienced before. These guys are my brothers, which makes winning the title even more special.

“I want to thank Pep and all the backroom staff we have here. As players, we are given everything we need to be successful. The support we get to ensure we go onto the pitch in the best possible condition is amazing and without it there is no way we could have won the title.

“To have won this trophy four times in five years really is amazing. Everyone knows the Premier League is the most competitive in world football, but we have shown consistency over a long period. That is testament to what City have built. I am leaving this summer, but I am very confident City will be successful again in the future."
