Man City and Manchester United will join these clubs in Champions League group stage draw

Excitement is building throughout Manchester ahead of another double charge for Champions League glory.

Having reached their first ever final last season, Manchester City and their star-studded squad are among the sides expected to compete for the trophy once again, while neighbours Manchester United have a rich history in the top European competition.

City and United booked their place in the group stage on the basis of their one-two Premier League finish.

Of course, Pep Guardiola and co won the top-flight crown for the third time in four seasons, while United enjoyed a campaign of progression with that runners-up place and simultaneously reaching the Europa League showpiece.

As always, the above means City will take a berth in Pot 1 for the group stage draw tomorrow night (5pm).

Having missed out via a penalty shoot-out in Gdansk against Villarreal, meanwhile, United find themselves in what appears to be a tough Pot 2 alongside Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain are among the other high-profile clubs to miss out on a spot as one of the top seeds, which could prove to be a blessing in disguise for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his squad.
