Man City and Man United bids confirmed for Harry Maguire as Toby Alderweireld deadline nears

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodger has confirmed that the Foxes have received two bids for defender Harry Maguire, both of which have been turned down.

Maguire has been the subject of interest from both Manchester City and Manchester United, with reports over the weekend that the England international was close to a move to Old Trafford.

However, Maguire was back in Leicester City colours on Tuesday evening as he played the second half of their opening pre-season friendly against Scunthorpe United.

Following the game, Rodgers revealed that the Foxes have rejected two bid for the defender, and has insisted that the club will stand firm over their World Record evaluation for the England man

"It's pretty simple really and we're quite relaxed about it," Rodgers said, as reported by LeicestershireLive . "Harry is a top-class player.

"Of course, he has attracted interest with two bids coming in but they nowhere near meet the valuation of the club.

"Harry is relaxed about it - we are. He's been absolutely brilliant, I have to add, because I've been in a similar situation a number of times and it can be very difficult for players, but he's a special guy.

"You see him on the field but off the field he has been very professional.

"The supporters need to know how he has been. He has never once sulked, he's just got on with it.

"He's a great head for the group. He's smiled, he has taken part in everything we do.

"We are all pretty relaxed because until our valuation is met, there doesn't need to be a decision."

Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld could be turned to by Manchester United as an alternative to Maguire should the Red Devils fail to get their man. The Belgian has a £25m release clause in his contract, which would make him significantly cheaper than the Leicester man. Although the deadline for the clause is quickly drawing nearer.

Although Maguire is keen on a move to either Manchester club, Leicester's stance may just price both out of a move, meaning that Alderweireld may become an option.

Clubs have just 10 more days to trigger the option in Alderweireld's contract, as it has a deadline that runs out on July 26th. Roma are also said to be among the interested parties in the 30-year-old.
