Man City and Liverpool FC's Premier League title odds after Pep Guardiola's side edge past Burnley

Manchester City are just two wins away from becoming the first side in a decade to retain their Premier League crown after a 1-0 victory against a resilient Burnley side at Turf Moor.

Pep Guardiola's side had struggled in previous trips to face the Lancashire outfit and encountered difficulties on Sunday afternoon, with Sergio Aguero scoring a scrappy goal in the second half to secure all three points.

The win puts City back on top of the Premier League, a point ahead of title rivals Liverpool who had put the ball back in the court of Guardiola's side after their thrashing of rock-bottom Huddersfield Town on Friday evening.

Jurgen Klopp's side knew that City had their fate in their own hands though and hoped that Burnley could do them a favour, with many identifying a clash with Sean Dyche's team as a potential situation where City could slip up.

There were to be no such problems this time around though and Aguero's goal means that victories for City in their final two matches against Leicester City and Brighton will be enough to lift the title.

As a result, City remain firm favourites to successfully defend their crown and OddsChecker shows that City are now as short as 1/5 to beat Liverpool to the title, with Klopp's side now unfancied at a price of 3/1.

City are also aided by the fact they have just three matches remaining this season, including their FA Cup final against Watford that comes after the conclusion of the Premier League campaign, while Liverpool face a double-header against Barcelona in the Champions League.
