Man City and Liverpool battle for Wolves striker as Premier League side eye Raheem Sterling

Welcome to the latest edition of the City Is Ours daily round-up, where we take a look at some of the Manchester City stories you might have missed.

Manchester City are ready to battle it out with Liverpool yet again, but this time for a Wolves striker who the Midlands club are desperate to tie down to a permanent deal.

City winger Raheem Sterling is edging close and the Englishman is now being linked with what would be a surprise move to Arsenal.

And finally, City have negotiated a clause to sign a 20-year-old defender who is part of the City Football Group.

Man City and Liverpool go head to head

When Manchester City and Liverpool lock horns it’s often some of the finest football Europe has to offer, but this time it appears the two clubs will go head-to-head off the pitch.

Both clubs, according to The Mirror, are interested in Wolves player Hee-chan Hwang. Hwang is currently on loan at Wolves from RB Leipzig and the black countryside are eager to make the move a permanent one as they are now aware the South Korean is attracting interest from the big clubs, including City.

Hwang has made an impressive start to Premier League life and has shown solid performances throughout his short time in England scoring four goals in eight matches.

City, despite being phenomenal this season, will most likely search for a striker in the coming transfer windows and Hwang may be an option. The 25-year-old is the type of player you know would blossom under Pep Guardiola’s management and would be a great addition to the already-packed City side.

Raheem has Premier League

Despite having a brilliant summer with England, Sterling has struggled to find a rhythm and regular appearances at club level. With the introduction of Jack Grealish, Sterling has found himself further down the pecking order and in an interview just a month or so ago, with the player himself saying he’d be open to a move if it meant he’d be provided with more game time.

Speaking on The Highbury Squad on YouTube, former Arsenal player Kevin Campbell believes there’s substance to reports suggesting Sterling may move to the North London club.

Campbell stated: “I think there’s mileage in it. He (Arteta) really influenced him. Nobody can argue his output and return as a wide player. And he scored over 20 goals as a wide man, that’s huge. If someone like him becomes available we have to be involved. We have to.”

The only potential stumbling block for this move is Sterling’s high wages. Arsenal, barring one or two players, have never been the type of club to pay a player astronomical wages and if they did want Sterling to join, they better get saving!

Guardiola sounds out South American defender

The beauty of City Football Group for Guardiola is the fact he will be able to cherry-pick the most promising talent from across the world and it appears he’s done exactly that.

According to Uruguayan outlet Referi, City’s sister club Montevideo Wanderers in South America have a clause in Orihuela’s deal that allows Pep’s side to sign the 20-year-old centre-back.

The youngster established himself as a starter for his club after his £5.9m move last year. According to the report, Orihuela will be entitled to a bonus of around £3.7m with Manchester City having similar clauses for other young players stretching across the City Football Group.
