Manchester City defender Philippe Sandler has revealed his plans for the upcoming season are to 'play as much as possible,' following the 4-0 pre-season win over Barnsley.
Pep Guardiola 's side were in great form during their second friendly of the summer, with goals from Samuel Edozie, Ben Knight, Riyad Mahrez and Nathan Ake and keeping a clean sheet in the process.
Sandler came on at half-time with the score already at 3-0 but turned in a good performance, passing out from the back well and keeping the defence organised.
But now 24, Sandler is yet to make a first-team appearance for City since joining the club back in 2018 and has played only 11 senior games since — all with Anderlecht on loan in the 2019/20 season.
Speaking on getting back among the action, the Dutch defender said: "I feel good. In the beginning it was a bit tough just for my body because we've only played one game so it's just getting into it again but, yeah I think we did okay. We played well, sometimes a bit sloppy, but in the end it's a good result against a good opponent.
."I feel like we're getting stronger every day. We're training well, it's good to get these kind of games in because a training session is different than a game and you need games to be fit for the season.
"It's good, the best thing about football is playing games so I like it."
Sandler was asked about his targets for the upcoming season and revealed that he just needs to play as much as possible, whether it's at the Etihad Stadium or elsewhere.
He added: "The target is to play as many games as possible, if it's here or somewhere else I don't know but I just need to play as many games [as possible]. I've been injured for a long time now so I need to see where it is, but as long as I play.
"It's been a long time so to be back playing with the guys is the best feeling, so I'm really happy."
