Raheem Sterling was at the double as Manchester City strolled to a 4-1 success over West Ham in the Premier League Asia Trophy in China.
Mark Noble put the Hammers in front from the penalty spot after Marcos Angelino handled in the area. But City hit back with two quickfire goals from David Silva and Lukas Nmecha.
After a host of substitutions at the break, Sterling - playing as a central striker - came off the bench to score twice, giving Pep Guardiola an option to think about ahead of the new season.
The Catalan coach named an experimental line-up, with an equal mixture of youth and experience, including £62m signing Rodri.
But City's pre-season preparations didn't get off to an ideal start after Angelino, in his second spell at the club, bizarrely handled in the penalty area when on the ground. Noble stepped up and found the top corner.
Their lead didn't last long when 18-year-old Adrian Bernabe picked out David Silva with a stunning cross-field pass and the Spaniard, with all his class, chested it down and volleyed past Roberto.
Within two minutes, City had the lead after referee Craig Pawson pointed to the spot. Nmecha breezed past Angelo Ogbonna in the area and the Italian stuck a leg out, allowing the young striker to go over. The 20-year-old picked himself up and fired City into the lead before the break.
Guardiola sent on Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva at the interval and City immediately looked more fluid, with Sterling deployed as the lone striker.
The 25-year-old was found through the middle after a sumptuous pass from Sane and the flag stayed down as Sterling slotted past Roberto.
He had his second with just 18 minutes to go after a lovely move involving Sane and De Bruyne, before the Belgian laid it off to Sterling and he fired beyond the West Ham stopper.
The Hammers could have got one back shortly after, with Andriy Yarmolenko hitting the post after Claudio Bravo tipped away Javier Hernandez's free-kick, but it wasn't going to be their night as City progressed to Saturday's final against Wolves.
