Man City 4-1 Club Brugge: Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus have impact off the bench for Pep Guardiola’s side

Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus had impressive impacts off the bench as they scored in Man City’s 4-1 Champions league over Club Brugge.

After Phil Foden had given the hosts the lead, a John Stones’ own-goal just minutes later pegged City back.

They struggled to find their top form, but an improved second-half showing was rewarded with a Mahrez header but Sterling and Jesus capped off the win late on.

City looked set for a serene European night after 15 minutes. Brugge had barely had a kick, and Cancelo had just hit the woodwork with a fine effort.

The goal came just moments later, as Foden tapped home Cancelo’s ball across the face of goal.

The game’s second goal came within two minutes, but against the run of play it was to Brugge. A cross hit Bernardo Silva, ricocheted off John Stones and past Ederson, and into the net to level the scores.

Ketelaere had a chance to give the visitors a shock lead in the second-half, but he missed and City made him pay.

Pep Guardiola’s side went on the attack straight away, Cancelo clipped a ball in, and an unmarked Mahrez headed past Mignolet.

Sterling was introduced after 69 minutes, and three minutes later he had his goal after Ilkay Gundogan rolled the ball across the face of goal for the Englishman to tap home.

Gabriel Jesus scored with the last kick of the game to make it 4-1, with City now a point ahead of PSG going into the side’s meeting in three weeks’ time.
