Man City 25-man training squad ahead of Porto fixture revealed

Aleks Zinchenko trained with the squad as Manchester City prepared for their Champions League game with Porto.

The Ukraine international returned to the Etihad in September with an injury and then picked up another one that saw him miss all domestic football in the first part of the season. After not making the squad against Arsenal on Saturday, the 23-year-old is in with a chance of making the selection for Wednesday's game after recovering from his latest problem.

Having lost Benjamin Mendy for up to a month and seen Aymeric Laporte also sidelined, Zinchenko's return will help to strengthen the backline and fill a hole at left-back that has been problematic to fill for more than two years.

Laporte, Mendy, Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne were all missing from the group that trained at the City Football Academy on Tuesday and will not be considered for the Champions League match.

A number of youngsters were part of the 25-man group including Cole Palmer and Liam Delap, who made their debuts this season. They will hope to be included in a squad that is allowed to be larger than in the Premier League. Unlike in domestic competitions, Guardiola can pick a 20-man squad for Champions League matches and also make five substitutions during the course of games

City training squad: Ederson, Steffen, Carson, Walker, Cancelo, Ake, Garcia, Harwood-Bellis, Dias, Stones, Zinchenko, Fernandinho, Rodri, Foden, Palmer, Doyle, Bernardo, Nmecha, Gundogan, Bernabe,  Mahrez, Sterling, Delap, Torres, Aguero
