Man chases after girls, 10, shouting 'I just want a hug' in creepy Dublin incident

A pair of schoolgirls were forced to run for their lives after being chased by a strange man who told them "I just want a hug" during a creepy and frightening Dublin incident.

A warning alert was sent out to Ringsend residents over the weekend about the chase with Gardai understood to be investigating the serious matter.

The girls, aged between 10 and 11-years-old, were followed by the man on Saturday at around 8pm near Sean Moore Road.

He is described as being around 6 foot tall and was wearing dark clothes when he targeted the innocent pair of kids.

The alert explained the incident and warned parents: "Please be very vigilant and tell your kids to stick together and be careful."

A brave citizen who came across the girls said they were shaken and begged for help claiming that the man was following them and wouldn't leave them alone.

She added that when the man saw the girls with her, he changed route and started walking in the opposite direction.

She continued: "I walked these two young girls home and let their parents know what had happened.

"I then went to the Garda station with one of their dads and reported my part of what I saw and I then left the family to talk with the officers."

She added: "This man was apparently insistent, he had those kids terrified, passing rude comments and then saying ‘I just want to hug you’."
