A man was chased through Liverpool streets in connection with a daylight shooting after raids at a number of homes.
Officers arrested a 31-year-old man after he tried to run from them on Wendell Street, in Toxteth, on Wednesday afternoon.
He is believed to be linked to an incident on Malt Street on Saturday when a gunman on a bike opened fire shortly before 3pm.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, criminal damage to a vehicle and possession of cannabis.
His arrest came just hours after another man was arrested in connection with a shooting on Gibson Road, last Thursday August, 6.
Police raided four homes, three in Toxteth and one in Old Swan, on Wednesday morning over the shootings and other recent tensions in the area.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Officers investigating a shooting on Malt Street in Toxteth on Sunday, 8 August have arrested a man
"Earlier today (Wednesday 12 August), three warrants were carried out in the Toxteth area and one in Old Swan as part of the investigation into the shooting and other incidents and tensions in the L8 area. Cannabis and other items were recovered,
"And this afternoon, officers sighted a suspect on Wendell Street and after a foot pursuit detained a 31-year-old man from Toxteth.

"He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, criminal damage to a vehicle and possession of cannabis.
"He has been taken to a police station for questioning by detectives."
Detective Inspector Sabi Kaur from our Firearms Investigation Team said: “The activity today is part of extensive work we’re carrying out to target and deter those who will bring firearms, violence and fear onto the streets.
"You will have seen, and continue to see, increased police activity in the area in coming days.
“I want to assure those in the area that this is all geared towards removing those people involved in serious and organised crime and their weapons from the streets.

"These warrants, our wider disruption work and Section 60 orders are all done to protect the public, prevent any further incidents, and deter would-be criminals from operating.
