Man chased and stabbed after three-car crash as police hunt for attackers

A man is in a serious condition in hospital after he was hunted down and stabbed following a three-vehicle crash.

The victim was wounded after a collision on Castlebeck Avenue in Sheffield on Monday evening, reports YorkshireLive.

A video posted on Sheffield Online, a community Facebook page, shows police taping off the road.

Locals speculated about the incident in the comments - with one person claiming a machete had been used.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police confirmed officers had attended an incident at around 6:25pm.

They said the force is now hunting the attackers.

A statement said that it was reported a man got out of one of the vehicles and was chased by occupants of the other vehicles across the road where he was stabbed.

He remains in hospital in a serious condition, it added.

"Police are continuing with enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident. There remains a high police presence in the area while they carry out their enquiries," the spokesperson said.

"If anybody has any information about the incident or dashcam footage that could have captured what happened please contact the police on 101 quoting incident number 736 of 9 August. Dashcam footage can be sent to enquiries@southyorks.pnn.police.uk."
